I got these strings to replace the stock strings on my new bass and I really like them. For a beginner, the light strings are faster, easier to mute, cause less buzzing, don't require as much pressure from the ring and pinky fingers, and are less noisy in general. They are more forgiving when I'm not quite on the fret as well.
