Clean the covers EVERY time before storage then carefully centering them on pads and squeezing away all air bubbles, along edges in particular.Mist the pads with good atomizer's water spray whenever pads start losing tackiness. Pads should look glossy when dry with tack, never dull and no stickiness. If dull and/or covered with lint showing, spray heavily with water and drag lint balls off pad with fingertip, then let dry until again tacky. With care, pads WILL last for months and months and easily +50 sessions following EACH tip. It's best starting out with new pads and maintaining them rather than rescuing pads already dull and unsticky. The KEY is pristine clean plastic covers draw skin oils away from pad onto their surface during storage between uses. That and not letting air gaps dry... I haven't had that problem, in fact, they lasted longer than I expected. I think that I used the first set of pads several times a day for several weeks before they started shorting out. I'm still on my second set and going strong, but I haven't been using them everyday this time. You have to remember to put the plastic backing back on them when you aren't using them. It says that in the instructions.Its also true that this belt will not make you thinner or effect your weight loss. You have to be working on that separately, and then the belt is a good addition to your whole routine. I think that it helps your abdominal muscle condition if you use them enough at high enough voltage. I really crank mine up (to 999, as high as they will go) and use them on program 3 or 4 so I get the most tensioning. I saw some people that said that they drenched the pads in rubbing alcohol to make them last longer. Others online recommended using window cleaner after each use. And still others said to use water based lubricant. I tried the rubbing alcohol and window cleaner and that didn't really work well because if you were using a towel to apply the stuff to the pads, the towel would stick and leave residue on the pads. The water based lubricants would probably be too messy. After thinking about it some more, I came up with the perfect solution. I found something that combines all the things everyone else had recommended (or elements of each) in a nice, none messy solution... so if you want to keep your slendertone pads working for a very, very long time, just use PURELL (OR ANY ALCOHOL BASED HAND SANITIZER) after each use.
